Race 2 Raise, Bloomfield College and Raise.me's New Jersey Sign-Up Competition, was announced in October with 597 NJ high schools participating overall. Fort Lee High School won for North New Jersey with 766 points. The winning school celebrated with a pizza party thrown by Bloomfield College and Raise.me on June 1, 2017. Over 750 Fort Lee students, a mix of freshmen, sophomores, and juniors, celebrated their victory on their school’s field. Deacon the Bear, Bloomfield College’s energetic mascot, also attended the party and was seen taking photos with students.

Currently 650 Fort Lee High School students have cumulatively earned $25,183,149 in micro-scholarships from partnering institutions on Raise.me.

Bloomfield College was the first in the state to partner with Raise.me, a social enterprise focused on expanding access to higher education, especially among low-income and first-generation college-bound students. The platform launched nationally in the fall of 2014 and has helped students earn $1 billion in scholarships for college. Starting as early as 9th grade, Raise.me enables students to earn “micro” scholarships throughout high school as they meet the goals that best prepare them to succeed.

"We partner with colleges like Bloomfield College, that are committed to providing high school students with a clear path to college, “said Katie Mooney, Director of Partnerships at Raise.me. “Bloomfield's micro-scholarship program on Raise.me has created opportunities for tens of thousands of students, many of whom have earned upwards of $30,000 toward their college tuition."

According to Raise.me, students at one out of two high schools across America have joined the platform to earn micro-scholarships from a diverse set of over 225 colleges and universities.

“Over the last year, Raise.me has opened the doors for Bloomfield College to meet even more high school students and share our message on college affordability,” said Nicole Cibelli, Director of Admission at the College. “Race 2 Raise added to the excitement and interest surrounding micro-scholarships and we were thrilled to visit Fort Lee High School. I applaud their passion for getting a head start on obtaining scholarships for college.”
