A record-breaking number of prospective students and their families attended Bloomfield College’s Fall Open House on Saturday, October 14, 2017.

Enthusiastic student workers and student volunteers greeted over 550 guests as Deacon the Bear posed for pictures. A welcome program, featuring President Richard A. Levao, Dr. Tresmaine Grimes, and Oumy Diene ’18, kicked off the fall morning. Guests later went on a tour of campus and had the opportunity to learn more about academic departments, student services, and student clubs/organizations at information tables.

Members of the Bloomfield College Alumni Association (BCAA) and College Trustees, John Skowronski ’91 and Adebola Taiwo ’09, among others, volunteered their time and helped greet families.

“This was the largest open house we have ever had at the institution,” said Adam Castro, Vice President for Enrollment Management. “The Admission and Marketing staffs should be commended for the weeks of preparation required to pull this event together, and it was very well received by our guests. This was a great introduction to the College for prospective students.”

To add to the fun of the day, an ice cream truck and festive food were available to guests as well as a DJ and pumpkin painting section.

High School seniors were offered on-the-spot admission decisions, providing some students with their first official college acceptance.

“Today was a great start to what will no doubt be a fulfilling year for the College as it reaches its 150th anniversary,” Nicole Cibelli, Director of Admission. “The staff and the students came together to put on an amazing event.”

Prospective students came from all over the Tri-state area and brought a vast array of academic interests.
