Each year the Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) Board of Directors and the Office of the Secretary of Higher Education invite colleges and universities to identify graduating EOF students, from both community and four-year institutions, who have demonstrated exceptional achievement during their college careers.

Thirteen Bloomfield College students are expected to be honored for their hard work, tenacity, and academic achievements at the 2017 EOF Graduate Awards Ceremony, held at Georgian Court University, on April 10, 2017.

Those recognized at the annual event are considered high achievers with grade point averages usually between 3.2 and 4.0.

This year’s honorees from Bloomfield College are Michael Alvarez (Academic Achievement Award); Tiayanna Boston (Academic Achievement Award); Osner Charles (Academic Achievement Award); Shaddya Fernandez (Academic Achievement Award); Ashley Hutcheson (Outstanding Academic Achievement Award); Ariel Madera (Academic Achievement Award); Ashley Rodney (Academic Achievement Award); Lisa Smith (Academic Achievement Award); Gladys Sosa (Outstanding Academic Achievement Award); Tiffany Tejada (Academic Achievement Award); Ikechukwu Uba (Student Spotlight Award); Kenechukwu Uba (Student Spotlight Award); and Rishana Uba (Academic Achieve and Student Spotlight Award).

Since 1968, the New Jersey Educational Opportunity Fund has provided financial assistance and support services (counseling, tutoring, and developmental course work) to students from educationally and economically disadvantaged backgrounds who attend institutions of higher education in the State of New Jersey.

Forty-one of New Jersey’s community colleges and public and private four-year colleges and universities participate in the EOF program.
