On March 30, 2016, Bloomfield College was a host location for the second year in a row to the NJ Arcade, New Jersey’s largest free showcase of games and interactive media. Over the course of the night, several hundreds of attendees filled Westminster Hall to check out a wide variety of projects.

The NJ Arcade events are organized by local non-profit organization, The Sheep’s Meow.

One attendee, Eric Guadara, travelled from Long Island to showcase his projects. “As a developer and as an attendee, The Sheep's Meow events are invaluable.  They offer a chance to meet, talk, and of course play with makers. I've never been at a show where the hosts were so genuinely invested in my success and comfort.”

The event featured as many as 50 projects, all created by local designers and artists from the New York and New Jersey area. Some of the projects were created by students and alumni of the Bloomfield College Creative Arts & Technology Division.

“The NJ Arcade is a great way to get feedback for my game,” said Michael Murphy, class of 2016. “It's an excellent event for us to publicly show our games, and see if they stand the true test.”

The Sheep’s Meow was founded by Brian S. Chung and GJ Lee, who also teach in the Creative Arts & Technology Division at Bloomfield College. Their mission is to support local creators, foster an inclusive and accessible community, and help people get started making their own games and interactive media.

“Interaction designers have a constant need to test and refine the experiences that they aim to create. You can’t do that alone,” said Chung. “Creative growth doesn’t happen in a vacuum. Our events connect creators and consumers, mentors and mentees, and in an environment that is fun, welcoming, and inspiring.”
